Atherton only has 7,000 residents and is 13 kilometers in area. First known as Fair Oaks, Atherton is a desirable quiet town where many rich and famous people have resided. The average cost of a property in the town is $9 million. Real estate agents who have had homes on the market from Atherton have reported plenty of offers and are sometimes sold well over the asking price.
